There’s a lot of haters in prison. They hate when you try to better yourself, they hate when you work hard, they hate when you get big. Most of all, they hate when you have “money.”

They don’t think you deserve it.

They bemoan their destitution and live off $20 state rip. They don’t bother partaking in any of the dozen penitentiary hustles. They say things like “I’m not rich like you” and that you should share everything with them. They borrow money, and then don’t repay the debt. They refuse to help themselves.

It makes me wonder if this is a chicken-and-the-egg thing. Sure, maybe their family’s poor or dead, and no one can help them out. Or maybe they’re broke, because they’re the type of person who buys a coffee shot on credit, and doesn’t pay back the soup. It’s not that they’re poor, it’s that they’ve burned every bridge in the world. If they don’t pay back soups in here, they probably don’t have anyone willing to help out there.

How you do anything is how you do everything.

Everything is connected.
